Offshore Discovery

OFFSHORE DISCOVERY is wholly owned and operated by Offshore Geo-Surveys Sdn Bhd.  Specifically designed as a multi purpose shallow and deepwater seismic geophysical and geotechnical survey vessel, permanently mobilized and can be rapidly deployed to survey locations within this region.

OFFSHORE DISCOVERY was re-configured with ease of overboard operations in mind.

• A 7 tonne SWL A-frame with a 2 tonne SWL winch on its srongback is located at the transom.
• This A-frame has a vertical clearance of 6.9m and 4.2m horizontal clearance with maximum outreach of 3.5 metres.
• A 3MT crane at the port forward corner of the aft main deck and at the starboard aft edge of the mast deck.

Centered on frame is a MOONPOOL measuring 1.6 by 1.4 metres.  This aperture was designed for deploying survey transducer on the centerline.

• Up to 3 transducers can be mounted on a rigid frame, which nests in the bottom of the moonpool and is raised and lowered by an hydraulic winch located on the mast deck.

The instrumentation provided onboard the vessel consists of multi beam and single beam echo sounders, side-scan sonars, sub bottom profiler, Sonardyne USBL, magneto-meter, gravity coring systems, an off-line processing, draughting and reporting systems.

The Globally Corrected Global Positioning System (GcGPS) provides state-of-the-art differential GPS positioning of the survey vessel.  The on-line navigation station and instrument room, are networked to the various off-line processing stations for integration of all survey activities from data collection through to final onboard reporting.
